The perfume market is experiencing a revolution. More and more European consumers are discovering Arabian fragrances and are surprised by what they offer. But what are the real differences?
Oil concentration
Mid-range European perfumes are usually Eau de Toilette (8-15% concentration). Arabian perfumes, on the other hand, are predominantly Eau de Parfum (15-30%) or even pure Parfum (30-40%). This directly translates into longer lasting power.
Longevity
An average European perfume lasts between 4 and 6 hours. A quality Arabian perfume can last between 8 and 14 hours. Some concentrated oils (attars) can last days on clothing.
Ingredients
Arabian perfumery uses raw materials that are rare or expensive in Europe: oud (one of the most expensive natural ingredients in the world), musk, amber, Indian sandalwood, and Taif rose.
Price
Here's the big surprise: Arabian perfumes offer exceptional value for money. A Lattafa or Armaf fragrance with EDP concentration can cost between 20 and 50 euros, while a European equivalent with EDT concentration can exceed 80-120 euros.
Does this mean Arabian perfumes are better?
Not necessarily. They are different. European perfumery excels in fresh, aquatic, and light floral compositions. Arabian perfumery shines in oriental, woody, spicy, and resinous scents.
The ideal is to combine both worlds depending on the occasion.
